When the weather gets hot and sticky, it’s very hard to keep curls from frizzing and straight hair from falling flat and limp. That’s why many celebs pull their hair back in the summer, but don’t just throw your hair back in a scrunchie!
1. If your hairs are fine or limp, blow-dry with your head upside down to get more volume. Use a round brush and direct the heat from the roots to the ends to prevent frizz. When your hair is halfway dry, straighten up and continue drying to get smooth ends. Avoid products, especially oils; they will weigh down your hair.
2. If your hair is already dry, use a comb to gently tease the crown. This will help keep the hair at the front and top of your head from looking too flat. For more height, spray lightly before and after teasing, and don’t pull your ponytail too tight.
3. Secure your ponytail in a snag-free elastic band. If it’s too tight, gently loosen the hair at the crown. To control baby hairs along your hairline, spray hairspray on your fingers and smooth them back.
4. For a bouncy ponytail, put the ends in a roller or finish with a curling iron. For a sleek ponytail, rub a small amount of smoothing serum or leave-in conditioner onto the ends.
